RIAA shooting itself in the foot and quickly reloading
A compilation with commentary of many of the stupid things the RIAA has been doing recently. Kind of funny to see it all in one place.
I’m referencing this Digg link, because of the following item:
RIAA going after sites that have song lyrics and tablature? What next? Are phrases going to be outlawed for public use. No kids named ‘Jude’, no storing ‘Toys in the Attic’, electricians can no longer use the words AC/DC?
The RIAA may do a lot of unpopular things, but the lyrics/tab crackdown is not one of them. I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s the MPA and NMPA that are making those threats.

I agree with the points in the DIGG comments. I’m getting my acronyms confused. But don’t you consider all these related? RIAA was the first under the DMCC with all the others following after. So, despite my editorial inaccurracy they all fall under the same umbrella.

“So, despite my editorial inaccurracy they all fall under the same umbrella.”
Daniel,
I’d have no problem if your list was “stupid things the music industry is doing,” but your list is about the “stupid things the RIAA has been doing recently” and not what the MPA is doing.
My comments may come off as pedantic, but it’s important to make the distinction between the recording industry and the publishing industry. I, myself, ranted about the music industry with no differentiation, but I’ve been learning more about what the MPA is responsible for, and how they differ from the RIAA. I’m still no industry expert, so if you catch me making inaccurate statements, feel free to correct me.
For now my position is that the MPA pales in comparison to the RIAA, and only time will tell if they’ll be as brash. The fun is supposed to begin in 2006.
